Note from Michele:

Just in case there is any confusion, I am only engaged to one man. I know, I know..... the blog says Michele Hearts Christopher while I keep calling him Marcus. Well, due to a small identity crisis in the 8th grade, my fiance started going by his middle name. Actually, he did this because there were far too many Chrises following the rise of Kris Kross. :) In any case, formally, I address him as Chris, but on a regular basis he is Marcus to me.

About Christopher Marcus

I am a cool, easy going kind of guy with a great sense of humor… at least I like to think so. I’m also a very competitive person with a passion for sports. As a kid, I was quite the athlete and enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football regardless if it was for the local recreational leagues or with the neighborhood kids. The competitor in me always wanted to win and it didn’t matter if it was sports, playing a video game or just a good old fashion argument. I love my parents dearly for recognizing my competitive and athletic ability early on and allowing me to participate in activities that kept me challenged. They also did the same for my Best Man, my brother who is an exceptional athlete himself.

After graduating from high school, I decided to join the service. The competitor in me wanted a challenge so I enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps, which I thought would be the most challenging branch to join. During my eight years in the Corps, I was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and NSA in Norfolk, Virginia. While attached to NSA, I deployed for six months in Kabul, Afghanistan. Upon my return following a successful deployment, my contract ran out and I was hired as civil service employee for the U.S. Marine Corps. I have now worked as a civil service employee for the Corps for 5 years and truly enjoy the camaraderie of being around Marines daily.

In my spare time I am a baseball and volleyball official. Umpiring baseball has become my passion and I love working on my craft every spring and summer season. I’m currently working varsity baseball at the high school level and aspire to call Division 1 college baseball. That is a goal that I am actively working hard to accomplish.

I am so blessed to have Michele in my life. I cannot even begin to imagine my life without her. She is a very goal oriented person and pushes me to reach for my dreams. Together, I am sure that there is nothing that she and I will not be able to do.
